New help-a-Muslima scam going round

A warning about a scam inviting Muslims to help a destitute, HIV-positive Muslim mother has been issued. The scam presents a sob story with a whole load of medical inaccuracies and various other inconsistencies, complete with attacks on Muslim organisations. It bears a striking resemblance to the “abandoned Muslima” scam we are warned about here, except that it is issued ostensibly by a third party.

(By the way, I just did a Google for the “Salwaa Ahmad bint Ed Williams” of Durham, North Carolina, whose name appears at the bottom of the message. I can’t find any other reference to her. The only person I could find by this name was a Salwa Williams, a speech and language pathologist from Minnesota.)

    As salaamu alaikum If you wanted to talk with me why didn’t you just email me instead of trying to look me up on google. I am nobody, why would I be on a google search. You could have emailed me and asked whatever you wanted and I would have told you. Yes the girl was scamming the Muslims, but we didn’t know that, we only tried to help her because she said she was muslim, which we have now found out that her story was not true, WaAllaahu alim if she is Muslim, but we did find out that she was not dying from AIDS and her baby wasn’t sick either, the only way we found this out was because she disappeared and then we found out the baby was dead, she is now being charged with the murder of the baby.
