For anyone out there who likes the idea of the Dashboard Widgets which come with the latest edition of Mac OS X (Tiger) who doesn't want to buy a Mac or (like me) can't afford to upgrade right now ... well, Konfabulator, the application that Apple ripped off to produce Dashboard, has been acquired by Yahoo and is now free. And it's available for Windoze as well. Get it here. (Hat tip: Mark at Weblog Tools Collection.)
Konfabulator released for free

Hmph. No Linux version. Do you happen to know of an equivalent for those of us in the Penguin Army?
There is something called Karamba and SuperKaramba for KDE, and gDesklets for GNOME. But they don't use the same Javascript technology that Konfab and Dashboard use.
Don't rush, Tiger is looking shakey at the moment, and the early adopters are complaining:

I have switcheed to Apple and Panther which is stable and truely fabulous. When I use my XP Pro system now, it's like going back in time.
Make the jump, but watch the net for how crufty Tiger is or is not
Doesn't surprise me. Having used Panther, I find it difficult to think of any way it could go except down - towards unnecessary features (Dashboard, Spotlight) and bloat. I've checked it out by using the machines at the Apple Store in London to see if it remedies a single annoying thing about Panther (like Safari's rendering bugs) and it doesn't.
Nah, I don't see Tiger being shaky, and with 10.4.2 out, all the Dashboard issues seem to have been much improved. I personally have some firewire issues, but I don't know what the cause is.
