Via SunniPath via Sunni Sister, an article has been posted defending Mawlana Jalal al-Deen Rumi from both the attacks of sectarians and the "universal mystics" who seek to co-opt his writings. It shows him as an orthodox Muslim rather than someone "who ignores the Muslim authorities and their 'uptight' religious laws".

"sectarians"
Yusuf thats a very good description. Having been one I can tell you it was a very depressive experience. Literally your mindset becomes a ghetto. They remind me of some ultra-orthodox jews living in islands of their own...
Our of experience I avoid "secterians" of all sorts. I dont discuss with them but remain polite with them. Simply mixing witht them brings back bad memories...
"anonymous", who are you?
Thank goodness the reclamation has begun.
I think Madonna, Deepak & Demi crooning Rumi was the final straw for me...though I suppose it had a good aspect in revealing Rumi to a new audience.
Yusuf, I am "anonymous".
Really.
wa salam.
Sorry, that was a bad joke :)
