Thank you for visiting Blogistan. This is what I intend will be a Muslim group blog for mainstream, orthodox Muslims, offering commentary on both religious and social issues from a Muslim point of view. I also intend that the blog would have a British focus, although not exclusively so. I would like this blog to represent the true, moderate face of Islam in Britain, and be a counterweight not only to unfair representations in the media, but also to certain media monitoring sites run by immature people who (probably unintentionally) regularly show us in a bad light. I also intend that the site would be free of overheated rhetoric, conspiracy theories, and sectarian propaganda.

This is a call for volunteers; I would particularly like to attract people who are infrequent bloggers (Mas’ud!) and ex-bloggers (br Ahmed!), and people who could offer original commentary within the criteria already mentioned. Please email me at indigojo_uk [at] yahoo [dot] co [dot] uk.

MashaAllah, a very worthy cause, presenting moderate authentic Islam - the silent majority!- in a day and age where mass hysteria and steryotypes abound. May Allah give you success.

Abdul: heh, well, all these plugs from non-Muslims doesn’t bring in what Blogistan really needs right now - contributors!

How can you claim to be a site that is representative of the views of Orthodox Muslims? You are getting kudos from harry’s place, a site that rants against Islam all the time. Shame on you for sleeping with the enemy and Allah will give you what you deserve

You are obviously not familiar with my main blog otherwise you’d have known what I have written about that blog in the past and what I think of a lot of what’s written there. I did not go out and ask them to recommend my site anyway; they did so of their own accord. Also, to say that HP “rants against Islam all the time” is a bit of an exaggeration in my opinion, having seen far worse out there. You should know what the Prophet (sall’ Allahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said about Muslims who curse other Muslims before you write such things.

I didnt curse you man (Why would I give you my Sawab?). Get of your high horse and have some milk! I said you will get what you deserve. And what amazes my is you would rather sleep and join forces with Harrys Palce than try to make any contact with the Muslim orgs that you bash. Sellout or what.

    Salaam;

In reference to a comment you left on “Rolled Trousers”: Perhaps you need to promote Blogistan more often? Another suggestion might be to widen the intended scope of the group blog: invite Muslims from the Continent, for example, or all Muslims from British territories both current and past. ;) Since this is an English-language blog, naturally I am not suggesting that there be a cacophony of languages, but Blogistan is an interesting idea and it’d be nice to include it on my daily blog reads, insha’Allah.

    Masalaama.

  11. Assalamu alaikum, Moderate Islam?? What is moderate islam? akhi why are you fixing this divide between Muslims? The “moderate” Islam that the west wants is the non-politicised Muslims. The Muslims who regard Islam in the same way Christians regard Christianity. Moderate Islam is the secular Islam. Why don’t you just call yourself ‘Muslims’? Why don’t you call your belief, simply “Islam”? Why do you have to push this divide among Muslims? I know your intentions are good and this moderates vs extremists is the two fields that the West claims that exist. The truth is akhi that there is a third. There is the moderates who spend their whole lives in the mosque and only link Islam in ibadaat. There is the extrimists who just curse those who disagree with them from the Muslims and physicially fight non-Muslims. And there are simply, Muslims. Muslims who realise that Islam is ibadaat and siasaat and that Muslims should indulge in both at the same level. Ibadaat between you and Allah and siasaat to better the lives of your brothers and sisters. May Allah accept all Muslims inshallah ya rab.

Allah yewafik wa yahdi al jamee3.

    Take care akhi, salamu alaikum

    Dear (?????) Terrorist,

Even if you are not reading this we don’t care. Time and again you tried to disturb us and disrupt our life - killing innocent civilians by planting bombs in trains, buses and cars. You have tried hard to bring death and destruction, cause panic and fear and create communal disharmony but everytime you were disgustingly unsuccessful. Do you know how we pass our life in Mumbai? How much it takes for us to earn that single rupee? If you wanted to give us a shock then we are sorry to say that you failed miserably in your ulterior motives. Better look elsewhere, not here.

We are not Hindus and Muslims or Gujaratis or Marathis or Punjabis or Bhaiyas or Bengaliies nor do we distinguish ourselves as owners or workers, govt. employees or private employees. WE ARE MUMBAIKERS (Bombay-ites, if you like). We will not allow you to disrupt our life like this. On the last few occasions when you struck (including the 7 deadly blasts in a single day killing over 250 people and injuring 500+ in 1993), we went to work next day in full strength. This time we cleared everything within a few hours and were back to normal - the vendors placing their next order, businessmen finalizing the next deals and the office workers rushing to catch the next train. (Yes the same train you targeted)

Fathom this: Within 3 hours of the blasts, long queues of blood donating volunteers were seen outside various hospitals, where most of the injured were admitted. By 12 midnight, the hospital had to issue a notification that blood banks were full and they didn’t require any more blood. The next day, attendance at schools and office was close to 100%, trains & buses were packed to the brim, and the crowds were back. The city has simply dusted itself off and moved one - perhaps with greater vigour.

We are Mumbaikers and we live like brothers in times like this. So, do not dare to threaten us with your crackers. The spirit of Mumbai is very strong and can not be harmed.

Please forward this to others. U never know, by chance it may come to hands of a terrorist in Afghanistan, Pakistan or Iraq and he can then read this message which is specially meant for him!!!

    With Love(????),

From the people of Mumbai (Bombay)
