Assalaamu alaikum,

Like JD, I've been away from that "putting the clocks back/up" one hour. What's the point of changing the time anyway? You could change the hours of schools or offices and have "summer hours" that are different from "winter hours", without actually moving the clocks back and forth.

Actually, GMT was used winter and summer until 1916. A pretty lengthy trial run. The best way would actually be the system that applied in WWII and you dislike: BST in winter and double summer time- the clocks pput forward two hours- in summer. This would save more lives and be more economical with energy. The prejudices of religious eccentrics shouldn't be made to affect the comfort and convenience of everyone else.

Wow, you've got some late sleepers there. ;) I've been fortunate to live in areas where daylight savings time isn't used since 1982. No hour forward or behind nonsense. It's much more practical and common-sense without it.
