A proper rally this Saturday

A peaceful protest is to be held this Saturday, regarding the cartoon affair, to counteract the yobbish antics of last Friday (hat tip: Osama):

Rally against incitement & Islamophobia, Saturday 11th February 2006

Date: 11th February 2006, 1pm-5pm, Trafalgar Square, London.

Should be good inshallah.

assalamu alikeum

anyone go then?

It was alright. The press was swarming the area. I even saw that vile journalist Peter Hutchins from the Daily hate Mail and a few others. Dr Azzam Tirmani (sp?)was great. he really got the crowd going.

"Peter Hutchins"

Peter Hitchens.

Believe me his brother is much more vile.

Shamil,

Is he related to Christopher Hitchens- the other right wing, hawish journalist, who writes for various papers, including the Mirror and Galloway's enemy? Im just guessing because of the name.

Actually, them being brothers wouldnt be a suprise. There're both as bad as each other!

Yes they are brothers.

Christopher Hitchens isn't right-wing though. He's a Trotskyist. I haven't worked out though if his recent enthusiasm for American imperialism is merely an extention of his Trotskyist belief in a global state (many of the neo-cons are former trotskyists as well). Or alternatively did 9/11 scare the crap out of him and get him to start backing any military adventure that might save him from such distresses in the future? I've come a across a number of left-wingers who've become liberal imperialists because of 9/11.Seems like a pretty monor event to base your ideology on.

In terms of Peter Hitchens I actually think that people like him (conservative and anti-liberal imperialism) could potentially be our allies and he's suggested so in the past.

I've posted this link below which seems to argue that their is little difference in the premises of either demonstration i.e the al-gharaba and mab.
