Ethnic candidate causes BNP outrage
The Guardian reports on today's front page that the decision to choose an "ethnic" - a supposed descendent of an Armenian refugee with the unlikely name of Sharif Abdul-Gawad - has caused outrage among the BNP's racist membership, who insist that the party remain all-white:
Sharif Abdel Gawad, whom the BNP describes as a "totally assimilated Greek-Armenian", was chosen to stand in a Bradford ward as part of the party's biggest ever electoral push. ...
The BNP says Mr Gawad was named after the actor Omar Sharif because his mother was a fan, and that his grandfather was an Armenian Christian who fled to Britain as a refugee.
Judging by the picture of him on the front of today's Guardian, I'd say he looked North African (and the spelling of Gawad suggests Egypt), but it speaks volumes that the leadership had to explain to their gnat-brained members that he was not Pakistani. (Tags: sharif abdel gawad, bnp, racism.)

Well that still wouldn't change anyone's perception of them as a bunch of facist pigs. I saw an election broadcast for them a couple of years ago and it was mainly talking about how evil Muslims are. They brought in a dark Hindu to speak for them in certain parts of the broadcast just to make them seem as if they're not racist. But hey, they'll only be fooling the idiots of the public.

Yesterday the BNP admitted it had received a number of calls from angry members and that a hardcore had refused to accept Mr Gawad's candidacy on race grounds "even when it was explained that he was not a Pakistani Muslim"
This peice of the guardians article says it all really. The racist BNP bigots will never get very far with these views, no matter how many ""totally assimilated" members they may use.

The BNP are evil scum. They have tried to re-brand themselves in recent years, but they are just the old National Front.
They criticise Islam in order to get at Pakistanis. They wouldn't have a go at Yvonne Ridley, who is a (loopy) Muslim, because she is white.

Good, let them fester in their racism. It will only push more people away from them, insh'Allah. I'm not going to do their work for them, if they aren't going to take the easy way to not being called racists (which would be by having a non-white member in leadership), then we're not going to give them any help in that direction.
