BBC Radio 4 (92-95FM and 198LW) has a programme on at 8pm tonight (30 mins) about who has influence over Muslim prisoners, in light of recent concerns that prisoners may be exposed to “radical beliefs”. The below report is about complaints that Khalid al-Fawwaz, who is wanted over the 1998 US embassy bombings, briefly led prayers at Woodhill prison. (Although whether he was actually preaching terror is another matter; if he was, they would have said so, and they have not.)

I thought the report about a prisoner leading prayers was pretty stupid - and I can only imagine that the journalists have some kind of picture of the clergy in their minds. They probably do not realise than any Muslim can lead the prayer.
