Belfast Telegraph: MP may be deported over claims she lied to win asylum (also here)
A Dutch TV documentary has alleged that Ayaan Hirsi Ali told a number of lies in order to gain asylum in the Netherlands, including that she had fled from a violent arranged marriage; it has also claimed that she had not come from war-torn Somalia, as she had claimed, but had lived a comfortable middle-class life in Kenya for twelve years before moving to the Netherlands, and did not flee her marriage, but rather she and her husband parted amicably. (More here and here from the Dutch news source Expatica, which also reported one hour ago that Hirsi Ali is to move to the USA to work with the American Enterprise Institute, which "is seen as one of the most important advisors to the government of George Bush", demonstrating as with the Joe Kaufman / Danya Shakfeh affair of two months ago that the US right are somewhat unscrupulous in who they indulge - given that it appears that AYH's whole career is based on a bogus sob story, you would think they would be more circumspect about employing her. Also: A Few Euros More, Dr M's Analysis; PhobeWatch has a few more links. Tags: ayaan hirsi ali, netherlands.)
Update 6:11pm: also from Expatica, the AEI is said to be a very conservative institution with a lot of religiously-minded people in it who are highly unlikely to approve of "Dutch" positions on euthanasia, homosexuality and abortion. Researcher Peter van Ham suggests that Ayaan Hirsi Ali will be out of place and "feel totally claustrophobic there".

Presumably when you say 'proven pack of lies' you mean 'alleged pack of lies', right?
"...her family denied that she had fled a marriage she did not want."
She fled it because she did want it? What?
No, the point is that she did not flee: her marriage broke up, as marriages often do.
I wouldn't rush into this Yusuf as the facts aren't clear yet.
However it wouldn't suprise me if it was true as this isn't the first such incident.
You really have to wonder exactly what purpose she's gonna fill at the AEI.She doesn't seem to have expertise in anything.
Although the same could be asked about Irshad Manji's purpose at Yale University.
Another thing I'd ask is whether the Proggies realise that their pro-zionist/pro-neocon stances and associations actually decrease the chance of them having any real effect on muslim opinion.
This leads me to believe that Irshad,Ayaan et al are just being used as pawns because I can't seriously accept that they believe their cause has any chance of success.
What's happened to the non-neocon muslim feminists like Fatima Mernisi and that Egyptian woman?I disagree with them but I take them seriously and accept that their beliefs are genuine.
I can't say the same of Manji and Ali. Manji sometimes seems like she's doing this for personal entertainment. Her latest piece in the times was titled "Armageddon? Great, bring it on" in reference to the Iranian issue (apparently she's now an expert on Iran as well as on Islam). I'm glad she finds the prospect of a nuclear showdown funny.
are you familair with these dubious Muslim organizations that have been found by people that no one in the Muslim community knows? Like the American Islamic Congress and Muslim Women of America? The joke is a neo-con found them in the supermarket line.
Umar: I don't know the two groups you mention, but I do know of the "Free Muslims Coalition" and the march they held in 2004, and the [hilarious list of supporters](http://www.blogistan.co.uk/blog/mt.php/2005/05/12/kamal_nawashs_alliance) they purported to have.
I'd be careful of labeling all proggies as neo-cons. Ziadin Sadar clearly isn't.
Ali clearly is according to Melanie Phillips.

*The choice over what to do about Iran’s President Ahmadinejad was not between peace and war. It was a choice between war against an Ahmadinejad who possessed the nuclear bomb and war with an Ahmadinejad who did not possess a nuclear bomb.*
Sweet! But I'd imagine the red carpet will be rolled out by the neocons. By their friends ye shall know them.
I didn't read the post..just writing to say I'm touched u bothered to update my new link...jazak allah..very swet of you...
Salaam 'Alaikum
Shamil: in the US, self-proclaimed so-called Progressives seem to only get the book deals, tv appearances, and the rest of it when they ally themselves with neo-cons or other conservative elements. Sardar, AFAIK, doesn't do any work here or really focus on the US.
This evening, Minister for Integration Rita Verdonk, like AHA a member of liberal party VVD, stated that AHA is not a Dutch National. AHA has 6 weeks to formulate a response.

That's what I imagined. My point was about how genuine they are. Surely they realise that having these asociations makes them less effective as "reformers".
That's why I believe Irshad and Ali are just being used to generate aggression towards muslims and support the "neo-conservative" project. Why for example is Ali talking about Iran at the American Jewish Congress? She isn't connected to that issue nor is she jewish.
She has joined a growing group of pathological muslim/Islam haters who have self-destructed

Another thing I've noticed is that the media insist on calling her a muslim despite her openly saying that she hasn't been for five years.
I'm glad she's going to join the AEI...it's going to add to their incredibility.
A while back, I posted on the PP site that Ayaan Hirsi Ali is not a good person, she went to school with my sister and has always been a trouble maker wherever she goes. I guess a leopard does not change its spots.
I think its only a matter of time before Manji, Sultan, and the rest of these charlatans are exposed. Theres a lot of money to be made and the way western institutions are eager to grab these frauds up clearly demonstrates that standards and ethics went out the door a long time ago.

Well I don't think you can really expose Manji because it's only the media who claim she's an "islamic scholar". She isn't stupid enough to claim that herself because it clearly isn't true and can easily be refuted.
As for Wafa Sultan all she's done is ranted on al-jazeera about jewish scientists a couple of times. There isn't much to refute.

WHat I meant is her own background and the many false statements she continues to makes. I read some interview of her where she claimed she Ismailis were some sort of "business" class. Its not so much her fault as the idiots in the media who place a megaphone in front of her.
This lady like me comes from Somalia, studied in Kenya and my blog is there to porve to her that what she said was all but just Somali not ISLAM...
People like mixing Islam with their personal problems
