However, most ordinary people had little time for Marxist ideology , leading to the rise of Leninist vanguard party ideology (ie. the people are so ignorant that we must <i>impose</i> Communism on them for their own good), and thus to the tyranny of Stalinism and Maoism. Was Marx's anti-religion bias the factor that alienated him from the very proletariat he claimed he wanted to help?
