thus to the tyranny of Stalinism and Maoism.

Mao wasn't really the same as Stalin. Mao did believe in the people but he believed in them too much. Hence projects like The Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution ended up spinning out of control.

Karl Marx made a lot of well-founded criticisms of the capitalist system (at least, as it existed in Marx's own time). However,
most ordinary people had little time for Marxist ideology , leading to the rise of Leninist vanguard party ideology (ie. the people are so ignorant that we must impose Communism on them for their own good), and thus to the tyranny of Stalinism and Maoism.

Was Marx's anti-religion bias the factor that alienated him from the very proletariat he claimed he wanted to help?

With people from Muslims families like this it only reinforces my opinion that Muslims should not make reverse-hijrah to the West.

The "Decent Left" routinely attacks other figures on the British left for associating with Socialist Workers and Islamists, but they still build alliances with this sect and present them (like Nick Cohen) as feminists or secularists, and not as militantly atheist Marxists, and invite them to talk of the situation in Iraq without mentioning their total contempt for the religious feelings of most Iraqis.

I've noted that to. They only dislike Stalinists in the west but not in the east.

"I suspect I was right in front of Norm as well"

Nope. I wasn't in London.

*IJ: Thanks for the correction. The guy behind asked a question and was definitely called Norman, so I suspected it might have been you.*
