Salam alaikoum
I think another issue is that, as a convert, I expect for people to think that my conversion FROM christianity was something that required a lot of time and thought, which it did. Thus it irks me when Christians come to me to try to bring me back into the fold, like I didn't "get it" the first time or, audhu billah, converted to Islam out of sheer stupidity and all I need is to learn more about Christianity, accept "Christ into my heart" or something. That is how I feel when Christians try to witness to me. I can't speak for UZ tho, but that's where my rage comes from--that people don't take my conversion at face value.

*You almost get the impression she isn't all that secure in her faith. To refuse any kind of debate is to close one's mind.*

Well, there are people who are cut out for debating - debating anything - and some who aren't. Not everyone has this confidence and some of those who don't are smart enough to realise that their opponents are looking for gaps in their knowledge. On top of that, people don't want to be accosted by people trying to spread their religion when they are buying vegetables or are otherwise busy. I think that is UZ's point.

I think she's overreacting a bit. People have often pressed leaflets into my hand when I'm walking down the street, whether religious or not. I look at them if I want, or not if I don't. It isn't such a big deal.
