Forest Gate source "has IQ of 69"
According to this report in today's Independent, the source of the "intelligence" for the Forest Gate raid was a prisoner in Belmarsh with an IQ of 69:
In what could prove to be highly embarrassing for the police and security services, the 22-year-old man, who has an IQ of just 69, was the trigger behind the dawn raid this month, according to the Sunday Mirror.
The former waiter, a childhood friend of the two brothers who were arrested during the raid two weeks ago, was jailed for six years in January for terror offences.
The paper has been told that it was after friends of Mohammed Abdul Kahar, 23, and Abul Koyair, 20, visited the man in top-security Belmarsh prison that the brothers were put under surveillance.
The brothers reportedly laughed off the fact that they were being followed by the security services. New information passed to the services, said to include detailed drawings of a suicide vest, led to Operation Volga and the early morning moves to arrest the pair, the paper claims.
Friends of the brothers told the paper they believe the man was the trigger for the operation that culminated in 250 police officers descending on their home.
So, perhaps the gullibility which commonly affects people with very low intelligence might have been a factor in his being persuaded to tell whatever he told about the brothers that led to the raid? I mean, how can anyone take something such a person says seriously anyway? (More: Osama, Bradford Muslim, Londonist.)

Salams,
At 69, the IQ of those involved in these plots against Muslims is much higher than I expected, although I'm sure George W. Bush's would drag the average down a bit.

The “Independent” tells us that a retard with an IQ of 69 has single-handed humiliated the Metropolitan Police. But enough about "Sir" Ian Blair. One of the questions the police put to the Muslim Brothers was: "Are you a member of the KKK? Does KKK stand for Keystone Kops or am I thinking of the Metropolitan Police? Perhaps Abu Bakr Mansha is a lot smarter than his IQ rating suggests. There he is languishing in a maximum security prison for essentially "thought crime". He needs to bring his case to public attention to get a favourable retrial. So here's the plan: "Listen Mr. Policeman, sir. I tell you the red-hot intelligence information about the No.1 terrorist in the United Kingdom of England. He is called Tony the Torturer and he lives in a very secret cellar in the middle of London, England. Same just like Batman. But he’s naughty and so bad man, effendi. You got it: Right down underneath the No.10 of the Downing Street. Who would never think of looking there? This guy has killed a huge great number of innocent peoples, but he look seems a really big smile 100% nice guy, you know.” Now that’s a far better tip than last time.

LOL. The thing is, police have to act on intelligence where terrorism is concerned.
Many Muslims seem to have a very short memory. 7th July ring any bells?
250 police officers did not descend on their home. The vast majority were outside cordoning off the street.

Police have to act on intelligence, but they should make some attempt to determine if it's reliable. Surely they knew enough about this informant to be cautious about what he said.

This just shows the level of police incompetance. Have they not learnt from Menenzes? Apparantly not!

I think the reason j0nz is sympathetic is because his own IQ is in similar range.
