Indeed - I’ve read on Christian sites that the Bible suggests that women should wear long, flowing dresses. The word they refer to is the Greek word katastole.

I’ve sometime thought to myself “is katastole Christian for jilbab?”

Something I noticed in the programme was that the women don’t look like American strict Protestants. Normally, women in independent Baptist churches wear long dresses all the time, and never trousers, at least not in public. These women look like secular women - the younger ones in tight clothes and the older ones frankly don’t look very feminine. That’s something else Keith Allen didn’t point out because he was too busy shooting his mouth off to notice these things.

I watched parts of this show last night, but couldn’t tolerate Keith Allen; I much preferred Louis Theroux’s show on the same family. Although Allen did uncover some details that Theroux omitted.

Interesting how the women cover their hair in the Church.

I thought you might be interested to know that, next Thursday, Ken Livingston is going to visit Kingston Masjid. Apparently, he is especially interested in interacting with relatively young Muslims (students-graduates, that kind of thing). I thought that, since you’re interested in politics, you’d be able to meet him on his own ground, so to speak. I have some more details- contact me if you’re interested.
