I think that if Muslims were being attacked by mindless yobs in the streets then it would be a cause of concern and that there would be debate as to whether it was racist or Islamophobic or just plain yob violence. Littlejohn’s documentary was about political anti-Semitism and placed an attack on a rabbi in the streets next to this, without presenting any evidence of a link, such as whether racist taunts were used or even any profile of the attackers - and surely, if Littlejohn could find an incident of an attack on a Jew or group of Jews which was obviously politically motivated and obviously linked to anger at Jewish support for Israel, he would have used that. I wonder how many chavs read the New Statesman or the MPACUK website? They are more likely to read the Sun which isn’t exactly a hotbed of criticism of Israel.

Stating that attacks on Islam are fine and then shielding ones extremist views with “Judaism” and “Christianity” is exactly the kind of attitude that spurs on thugs to commit violence against Muslims. I really think that our British Stasi should pick up on such posters and harrass/arrest them rather than innocent Muslims.

Presumably there is a similar difference between “genuine Islamophobia” and “a bunch of stupid yobs attacking a Muslim in the street because they are different coinciding with a rise in anger against Israel”, which you will remind us about the next time a Muslim is attacked for, apparently, no reason other than that he was Muslim?

I am not sure why so many Muslims think they have to set out to prove that hatred of Jews is on the rise in this country in the face of the findings of the police and of the All-Party Parliamentary Inquiry into Antisemitism, but it depresses me that distrust of Jews is now so high in the Muslim community in this country that they cannot countenance the idea that Jews may also be on the receiving end of prejudice. This post left a very nasty taste in my mouth.

Wrong. I don’t support any blanket attacks on Muslims, even verbal ones. Though if a Muslim does something I disagree with or commits a crime, he shouldn’t be shielded from criticism on grounds of “islamophobia”.

Criticism of and attacks on Islam - and Christianity, Judaism etc - are fine, and must be countered - with words.

I don’t know what you’re basing that assumption on but if its true then I don’t accept the figures.

I don’t accept the term. It comes from a time when jews were the only minority (and the only semites) in Europe. I don’t see that it has any relevance today. After all we don’t call racism towards blacks a specific name even though there have been racially motivated murders against them. I’m against the concept of race totally.Whether its being used in a positive or negative way.

The only one I can recall is the one by Kenan Malik which said that it didn’t exist. Personally I don’t care either way but you can’t really compare that to something with a title like “The War on Britain’s Jews”.

Because it compares race based desecration of graves with criticism of a foreign country.

The report compares Jews, religious or not to Muslims, religious or not.

Peter Hitchens who basically said that Left-wing anti-semitism was worse than Right-wing anti-semitism because it was from the Left.

No, his argument is that Left-wing anti-semitism is more hypocritical because the left is holier than thou about racism and quick to see it anywhere except against the Jews.

If it is on the rise, and the evidence from the police is that it is, a straightforward condemnation would be good to hear, instead of the usual pattern of denial - it’s not really happening but if it is it’s because of Israel.
