Back to democracy, back to Bhutto
William Dalrymple (of White Mughals fame) on the depressing spectacle of Benazir Bhutto trying to cut a deal with Busharraf in order to get back in power in Pakistan. This is apparently what “democracy” means. He points out that Benazir’s first term of office was notorious for incompetence, corruption and brutality, far more so than the early period of Busharraf’s. (More: Umar Lee , , .)
