I think majjar makes the real point. Let’s look at the bigger picture here and we’ll soon realize this is indeed a case of divide and conquer.

Riyadh-ul-Haq isn’t the issue. Its his affiliation to Deobandism that is being truly attacked, thereby incriminating all Deobandis.

I don’t know much about Sheik Riyadh-ul-Haqq so cant comment but I’ve never heard Sheik Ahmed Ali praise or support 9/11. I’d love to see Norfolk’s evidence, assuming he has any to begin with. I’ve heard many of Sheik Ali’s lectures and have a few of his tapes indoors, and if anything, he’s always railing on about the ills in the desi communtiy like forced marriages, women paying dowry and the other practises which orginate from Hindu customs, which go against islam.

I don’t think its a problem to state that 9/11 was a wake up call for young muslims. IMO it was a wake up call for all muslims really. Doesnt mean I agree/enjoy/support with what happened but it made an impact on many muslims and made them evaulate themselves and their islamic idenities, especially the aftermath. Guess Norfolk’s been taking lessons from Dispatches.

This is British Divide and rule policy applied to the Muslims in Britain. They have had a go at the Salafists, HIzb ut Tahrir, UKIM, MCB, Tableegh and now Deobandis

salam… what happened with this latest front in Muslim-scholar-bashing is sad and unfortunate. What is more unfortunate is that Muslims keep falling for this sort of trickery by the journalists clearly bent on destroying reputations and not for reporting. I have placed a comment on Br. Tariq’s blog too… I don’t believe he intended his post because the Shaykh is deobandi, but just some poor judgment in my humble opinion. In his defense, he has been consistent in his criticism of the loud-mouths, it just needs to be more discriminatory and qualified.
