I trainned at a London Medical School and am in touch with a large number of muslim doctors and some students - never have I come across such views (refusing to learn about terminations, STDs and alcohol related issues)from any of the muslims. And as you rightly point out, other faiths also haold strong views on certain issues (abortions etc). Articles like this are v dangerous in the damage they do to community relations.

We had a run-in with this Abul Taher character last year, when he ran an 'expose' on a paintballing event we organised... Yvone Ridley wrote an article about the episode... I feel a bit sorry for him, the fella has no scruples.

When I converted at Uni and was befriended by the IslamSoc Wahhabis, there was a medical student among them. For all is fervour and idealism, the worse I ever heard from him was a moan about classes on abortion. He would NEVER have dared do anything to risk his career, whatever his principles, for fear his parents would have skinned him alive! I think we can ditto that for a lot of UK Muslim medical students.
