Well, when I first installed it (I downloaded it within an hour of its release), I did have problems with the updater, which failed when it couldn't find one of the packages it was supposed to download. I filed a bug report and, although the bug is still open, they provided the package that was missing and I've had no problems since. I have always preferred OpenSuse's software management to Fedora's and found YUM - let alone its graphical front-ends like Pirut - unacceptably slow (they are written in Python); in this release, the speed of preparation when starting software management tools is much improved over the previous release, although probably not as fast as in Synaptic on Ubuntu.

Thanks for posting your review, Yusuf. I've used Suse for several years, mainly for its version OpenOffice.org. Although it was perfect for my needs, I lost patience with its update manager. From my experience, it takes ages to refresh repos and update packages. Given the speed with which YUM or APT will update packages, this slowness was unacceptable. I decided to try out Ubuntu 8.04, despite some previous unpleasant experiences with Ubuntu, and was pleasantly surprised by how much it had improved. I've decided to to stay with it for the time being, but would like to hear about your experiences with OpenSuse's update manager.

Salam alaykum,
just a quick question, does anyone know what versions of Linux are popular right now in the jobs market? Or even what versions of Unix? What professional exams would be worth taking in Linux and Unix?
