		<description>I did not have the opportunity to watch the program, but its interesting to note the point you make about, individuals being well looked after in homes for the mentally ill.

My mother for the past several months has been working in an old peoples home, specifically designated for the mentally infirm. She says that the care and facilities provided for them is par none. But what hurts her the most, is the absence of true companionship. My mother as a carer often has her roles rotated - she prefers this, since strong attachments can grow. Rarely has she seen family attend the houses.

The book &#039;The Diving Bell and the Butterfly&#039; is an interesting read, though a slightly different case.
