There is a series on Islam channel about the Prophet (saw), they depict all of the Sahabah - not quite sure about major/minor roles, I haven’t got around to watching it quite in such depth yet. I would like to see a movie based on events that occur after the Prophet (saw)’s demise - there are Iranian versions but they often veer on the side of depicting most of the Sahabah as evil or shady characters. I suppose this would always crop up and be an issue when making a movie of that time period.

Is depiction of the sahaba (may Allah be pleased with them) by actors actually technically wrong or sinful? If the portrayal is fair/accurate and done in accordance with the authentic sources for seerah, then I can see the benefits such work would have in educating people and in dawah. It would be useful to have a scholarly take on this.

And yes the animated version was really good :)

Assalamu’alaykum,

Have you seen the animated movie about the Prophet? It doesn’t depict Hamza radhiAllahu’anh, but it does show Bilal radhiAllahu’anh and a few other companions. There are a few other prominent Sahabah in the film, but overall it is done quite tastefully.

I personally thought the film was excellent, but others thought it to be overly simplified and too childish (it is aimed at children, after all). I’m curious to know your opinion on it.
