Hi

Opening the bus lanes for motorbikes is great it makes things a lot safer for motorbikes, round my way they have installed signs that change when the bus lanes are in operation so they show a different sing telling cars to use the bus lane when they are not in operation. As for the cyclist groups...... Ok as a motorcyclist I am not that bothered by pushbikes but when they have total disregard for red lights and box junctions taht is a different matter. I have had to stop on too many occasions to offer first aid to cyclists that have been involved in accidents because of this.
However, I would hope that motorcycles like myself also respect the cyclists that are using the buslanes by being curtious in the way they overtake.

just been DONE for being in a bus lane at night. I can see the sense of being fined if you enter a bus lane during peak hours but when there is not a bus in sight whats the problem ?? London sucks and so do the people that run its parking services . I appealed but its like talking to a brick wall they dont give a monkies about you they just want your money. NEVER going to that dung heap again.

I must admit that until I saw a sign allowing motorbikes in bus lanes, I didn't even notice them. Buses are more of a pain. They take up the width of the lane (obviously) and if there are gaps they can be dangerous - tempting narrow canyons between buses and immovable railings railings.

Motorbikes can accelerate out of trouble and I agree it's far better they sit in wide bus lanes rather than twiddle between cars in stationary traffic.

Not sure where my comment went?

I agree that motorbikers should be allowed in bus lanes. It's safer for them and other road users.
