		<description>Yakoub,
I happen to agree with Yusuf. The File on 4 programme raised some salient points which you haven&#039;t dealt with (please note calling something &#039;tosh&#039; is NOT dealing with it).

What exactly do you mean by saying that Muslims have a history of moral panic in respect to education?

Explain please.

<description>++School governors are elected &quot;lay people&quot;, usually parents... basically &quot;upstanding citizens&quot; who want to add a string to their bow++

Twaddle and disgraceful innuendo. Parent governors are only part of the board, and I&#039;ve met some pretty damn fine ones - highly skilled, dilligent and informed. But this statement is also factually inaccurate. There are teacher governors and co-opted LEA officers who are mandatory members of most boards, and the Head is not always Chair.

In addition, staff recruitment follows very strict equal opportunities guidelines in schools, to the extent that applicants generally face the same questions (drawn up and asked by different governors) which are scored by the individual members of the panel as a prelude to discussion.

The problem with people who write critically about education, whether they are in support of teacher, pupils, or whoever, is that they invariably don&#039;t have much current experience of schools.

Ironically, as with Muslims, the media has a history of moral panic in respect of education and you have to take what you read in the papers (or hear on the radio) with a huge swig of saline.

Stick to blogging about stuff you know something about. You do that brilliantly.

This is tosh.
