Some very good points about Margaret Thatcher and the way she was judged compared with John Major. However, I think Thatcher often talked the confrontational talk - her bark was more aggressive than her bite. Also, her being a woman got her noticed, for good and bad, while everyone thought John Major was dull.

In the workplace, women don't need to dress like me, just professionally/appropriately.

hehe,

There is one partucluar youong lady who always comes to work with her bossoms in everyone elses face. It's so far working cos she is the only one who seems to be moving fast upwards despite her limited English.

I beleive women should not be emulating men, but simply being true to themelves. And the government should give them rights as women and not as men. In my kind of world, women would have arrived at work few hours late to appreciate few lil facts about what they do for us esp in the mornings. A man arriving work at 8 am should certainly be no equal to a mother whose also expected to arrive at the same hour.

Expecting a mother to be like men is more like asking a crippled person with back and leg problems to run as fast as a healthy person. Anybody asking women to"de-feminise" is just seeking to waste their tme as they will be chasing ghosts. They should ask for fairness and not "equality".

Salam alaikoum
THanks for the link! What I find strangest about Sarah Palin is that men tout her as some sort of counterpart to Hillary Clinton when I find her more of an aged barbie doll- she is men's opinion of what a woman should be- and she gives it right back to the men by selling out women, which is the context of my quote.

As far as appropriate dress, I agree with you in the next paragraph- women dress something scandalous in the office in ways men would never get away with, and I wonder why. Once, a girl came into the office dressed straight out of Moulin Rouge. A man would have been sent home for working "in costume."
