For years we were screaming that we muslims need a media presence - now that we have it, we are arguing that this scholar said this, and therefore the channel should be boycotted, taken off air blah blah blah.

For all it’s faults I find some of the programming to be very beneficial (such as the news, Kids progs, Quran recitation, Taraweeh prayers, Adhab ul Mufrad). Things that I don’t like I avoid and I advise other muslims to do the same. Also, open a dialogue with the presenters/producers.

The Islamic adhab dictate that we resolve our issues between us, in a civilised manner. We don’t need the government, via their Quilliam stooges slapping alerts on our issues and dictating to us what to do and what not to do.

The problem isnt Ed and the QF per se but the secret cabal of muslims who for whatever reason are propping them up and giving them legitimacy. They are responsible for undermining sufism and by default Islam.

If we could be sure that all these accusations are from the heads of Ed and Maajid, if wouldn’t really matter so much what they said. But given the Million Pounds a year of government funding - which at least makes QF a Quango - this might actually be government directed!

Bro Mahmood with all due respect. Ive heard scholers from Islam Channel give one sided fatwas ignoring on some occasions the wealth of hadith that go against their particular rulings. A classic example is donating quran to the deceased. Ive heard the its haram label so many times. Now i know nearly all sunni muslims agree that donating the quran to the deceased is premitted. The tableegis, sufies, deobandies and even some salafies agree that there is proof for it. Shaykh Abu Aliyah wrote an article proving it and saying it was a practice of majority of the pious people of the salaf. Now i know there may be some ulema who disagree but they will not negate to tell you the issue of difference of opinion.

Some of the scholers on Islam Channel are just good at throwing the haram label and not speaking from authentic edicts. Its one sided views influenced from revisionist thoughts so i wouldnt say its from the sunnah.

I think the clear difference between NOOR TV is that Noor tv doesnt claim to represnt all muslims, claims to put on a variety of scholers whose views are the norm in society, claims its not linked to any manhaj or group and claims that they want to hold an event to promote unity whilst the lineup of scholers is still very one sided. I still remember the words of the chairman of Islam Channel when he claimed he is independent, but maliki in fiqh and he gives a wide range of scholers a platform to speak.

Noor tv doesnt claim any of this and its pretty clear what we are getting from Noor tv.

Lets be honest most of the scholers who appear on Islam Channel are either salafies, ikhawnies. The same could be said of GPU.

One one show on Islam Channel,On the day of Arafat when the topic was supposed to be about Arafat the scholer on there went on a tirade accusing most muslims who lived in U.K of being engaged in KUFR.

However i must add that the attack on the presenters was a step too far. QF seems to have a vendatta against anyone linked with UKIM, MAB, MCB. The attack against Osama Saeed was shocking.

May Allah (swt) keep the brothers at the Islam Channel steadfast on proclaiming Islam in accorrdance with the Book of Allah & the Sunnah of the Prophet, we must remember that there were people at the Prophets time who maligned his Message as to harsh and excessive, to day seems no different, some people don’t like hearing authentic edicts on matters but love having a sing and chant!

I look forward to the QF Alert on the all ‘inclusive’ Noor TV Channel whose programming usually consists of never-ending ghazals & naats with the odd sprinkling of Daroos & readings from the Masnavi of Rumi, though I would prefer alittle more reading or explanation fro the Qur’an. Will they also be asked to widen the scope of their presenters to accommodate brothers from the Tableegh, Jamat, Ikhwan…I don’t think so, because they are singing from the politically correct hymn sheet (no pun intended).

That is a common practice on phone-in shows. I listen to the BBC London station and they often have to tell their callers to turn their radios off, as it causes feedback.

Some of the fatwas dished out on the Islam channel are downright scary. With the exception of YQ and Shaykh Haytham Tamim, I have to wonder who these people are.

It also never fails to depress me how many times they have to tell callers to turn their tv off when they’re on air.

They call themselves a think tank do they. Tempted to replace "think" with another word which rhymes better. Soon perhaps they will franchise in Washington DC, with PNAC, AIPAC and the rest of the hoores, erm, court intellectuals. From what I hear, sooner than that they may be forced to relocate, and I'm sure it will be accompanied by heartbreaking tales of their martyrdom in the "press" . And they will almost undoubtedly add a little important, ethnically PC feel good something to the drumbeat for the next war, to earn their keep. Here's why no-one trusts you, Ed. In the race for power, you switched horses. You should have got out the race. There are other options in life, apart from telling everyone else how to live theirs. So get your hands out of our pockets. Learn a trade. Do something useful. Or just go back to the hydrothermal vent - if they'll have you. Do it soon - an awful lot of people in London have an anger management plan that involves you. I really, really don't want to read about it in the Independent.
