BBC NEWS | England | London | Abu Hamza’s car scam sons jailed

Two sons and a stepson of the hate preacher Abu Hamza (real name Mustafa Kamel), who occupied Finsbury Park mosque with a bunch of his hoodlums until he became an embarrassment to the Blair government in 2003 and was arrested on the pretext of an American extradition warrant, have been convicted (they confessed) of running a car theft scam over two years in London. The scam consisted of identifying expensive cars left in long-stay car parks in London, applying to the vehicle registration authority to change the address. Because the owners did not respond to a notice from the authority, as they were away (which is why they left their cars in the long-stay car parks), the crooks were able to get new registration documents (known as log books) from the authority, and ultimately keys to the cars, which they then sold or used as collateral for loans.

I know Abu Hamza has been in jail for six years, but his sons are 22 and 27 and his stepson 28. I am sure it is not usual for three members of a shaikh’s household to turn out to be thieves. His tarbiyya must have been really effective back when he was such a pillar of the community in Finsbury Park. And I notice that the BBC have taken to calling Abu Hamza a cleric again; back in 2003, I sent numerous complaints to the effect that we don’t have a clergy in Islam and, therefore, no clerics; we have scholars, some of whom are imams, and Abu Hamza was not a scholar; he was just a preacher. Looks like we’ll have to start writing those complaint letters again - mention this website: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/8071736.stm (More: The Spittoon.)

  1. LeedsLad says:

The first business they did in the UK was forging vehicle insurance certificates and driving documents, funnily alleging that insurance was “haram” but ok to carry a fake insurance certificate for a princely sum of £30. The insurance companies then sorted their acts together as they centralised their data to make it easier for police to spot suspect drivers, so then they moved over to passports.

All this was known to the UK police and local communities, but somehow he had a capacity to brainwash them.

  2. Good grief, that is a disturbing story. Knowing that such people are representing Islam, taking it upon themselves to educate people about Islam, is tragic.

And I usually just give in wearily to the whole cleric thing; I figured it’s one of those close approximation situations that arise when we try to translate one cultural (or rather, religious) construct into the language of the other. You’re right, though, and I appreciate your succinct explanation; it will come in handy for me!

  3. Hamza Case Falls Apart

Due to personal unfounded attack’s by the Daily Mail newspaper calling me an unmasked football hooligan and personal attacks on myself and family by bloggers from the far left and supporters of the failing Labour Government, I wish to withdraw my police statement taken by the anti-terrorist squad for the FBI.

The 6-page statement lists a number of video tapes to be used in the extradition case of Abu Hamza and one video links James Ujaama to Abu Hamza. Without these tapes, which kick-started the case in America, it will be hard to present a valid case against Abu Hamza now that I’m withdrawing all evidence due to personal attacks and lies by the Daily Mail.
