Maintaining the belief system.

I work out at a gym frequented by many nationalities. There is an Indian there who says he just "cannot understand" why we think God lives in the Ka'aba. No matter how many times myself and other Muslims have polite pointed out the falsehood of this, this, he continues with his almost monomaniacal point. It is important to him. He needs to beleive this. Even though English non-Muslims find his persepective rather odd. I fear he has misjudged the level on which they think, possibly because he has accumulated more money than most of them - but that's another matter.

However, regarding our Mr Denis, it's similar, but not quite the same. The Shariah itself and what Muslims actually beleive in and practice is, for him, not of the slightest importance.

The beliefs that he is concerned about are the beliefs of the target audience that he is smearcasting to. He clearly has ambitions, and for him to prove his worth, it is important that he is to be seen preserving the necessary public mind set over these matters.

Massinissa

We don't have our own courts in the United Kingdom, that is a misrepresenation of the situation. What we have is Shariah Councils, which are run on a voluntary basis whose remit extends to solely acting as a entirely voluntary method of arbitration. It si taken as ag given that the individuals who seel the judgements of these councils do so of their own accord and it is my understanding that they sign an affadavit to testify to that.

Salaam,

Why exactly do Muslims in the United Kingdom need their own courts? Can't they just draw up prenuptial agreements with Islamic provisions and have the English courts uphold them?
