I have tried to reciprocate the great hospitatlity I've received in Turkey on numerous occaisions, only to be told by my hosts that it's impossible for them to get a visa just to visit for a holiday. The one family that has managed to visit had to pay far more for the visa than for their ticket. Fortunately they were quite a wealthy family, as that fee would have crippled me. It is a shameful and embarrassing situation really. It doesn’t end with immigration.
