I knew Islamophobes would seize upon Tantawi's rubbish. Back in Ramadan another one of these fascist politicians tried a publicity stunt outside of a masjid to disrupt services, only to get punched in the face by a brother.
Don't mind therShites, s.ali. He seems to think theres a Muslim around every corner waiting to get him, just like his ridiculous statement that Palestinians blow up their own ambulances to get sympathy. That's the state of paranoid European racists these days. They should be upset at their failed inferior culture which has turned their society into a cesspool.

Assalamo alaykum wa'rahmatullhi wa'barakatuh: SubhanAllah it is amazing how corruption can infiltrate so many minds and on virtually every level of society, it is quite sad that people like Tantawi are able to retain such positions of influence.

Bismillah...
Assalamualaikum wa Rahmatullah...

The media tries to imply Tantawi is the Muslim pope. It is these very dictatorhsip-backed scholars that messed up the reputation of al-Azhar. We wish that the days of Shaykh 'Abd al-Halim Mahmud were to rise back...

"The Northern League’s proposal would amend a 1975 law... which bans anyone wearing anything which makes their identification impossible."
Such as motorcycle helmets? There are places- banks, airports, immigration centres, examination rooms- where identification and sometimes even continuing open-facedness are essential. The rest of the time there is no reason should not wear silly clothes if they wish to. In fact, there's a long tradition in Italy of wearing masks; Venice is the origin of the carnival mask.

I have *really really really* been hoping this was all a misquote and that he would publish a clarification. But alas, I don't think it will be forthcoming. AbuS mentioned an egyptian journalist did a profile of him that was not very flattering. inshaAllah I'll have him translate it to post.
