I have today spoken to Kingson Council, and had no joy with Customer Services, so asked for my complaint to be esculated up, will now wait for a call. I live in Chantry Road, and whilst I am used to driving in snow, the road is so icy, even I won't venture out today (did yesterday, but was glad to get back home, went out for essential supplies).
Chantry Road is used as a rat run for motorists who work on the trading estates in Chessington, whilst I don't have a huge problem with this, after all they do (or most) pay their care tax, with the road being so icy, the chances of our cars gettting damaged is huge, yet the council say they won't take responsibility for this.
We we pay a very high council tax, yet we are not getting value for money. They know the winters are getting worse, but have no contingency plans to deal with it, instead, they spend our hard earned money on theatres, renaming car parks, and spending thousands on moving and installing yet more traffice lights, and other pet projects that take their fancy.
I have been assured I will get a response from Kingston Council by end of day Thursday, when and if this happens, I will share their response with you.
Sorry my resonse is so long, but I am so cross that council officers are hiding behind the call centre, instead of dealing with the problems themselves

The council have a winter maintenance plan and unfortunately unless the pavement is near a school, hospital or something major then it doesn't get gritted.

In addition home owners or business owners who grit the public pavement can get sued for gritting or removing snow, if someone slips and injuries themselves.
