A first beta of the KDE Software Compilation v4.4 has been released. Major new features:
- New smart auto-mounter for removables
- Various new subtle animations in windows, decorations, menus and applications
- New search facility and version control integration in Dolphin
- New TimeLine virtual file system for access to recently used items
- KMail: email archiving feature, tag searching and less intrusive error messages
- Support for digital signature checking and multiple download sources in KGet
- New blogging application (Blogilo)
