K3b v2.0 released

Version 2.0 of K3b, the KDE-based CD and DVD ripping and burning app, has been released. Changes:

  • Port to KDE Platform 4
  • Always allow manual writing speed selection
  • Use proper toolbars instead of the toolboxes -> nicer laying out with different styles
  • Merged CD and DVD copy dialogs
  • Merged CD and DVD image burning dialogs
  • Merged CD-RW erasing and DVD formatting dialogs

QtiPlot v0.9.8 released

From Qt Apps:

Version 0.9.8 of QtiPlot, an Origin-like scientific plotting application based on Qt 4, has been released. Changes include:

  • Improved Excel interop, with ability to export tables and matrices as XLS files and improved XLS imports
  • Improvements to Origin project file imports, look and feel of the fit wizard and to the import ASCII wizard
  • Improvements to 2D plotting and data analysis capabilities, including new baseline tool

KDE v4.4.5 compilation released

CMake v2.8.2 released

Version 2.8.2 of CMake, the cross-platform build tool used by KDE 4 and many other Qt projects has been released. This contains a number of bug fixes, plus the ability to build on MinGW on 64-bit Windows (as well as Tru64 and older Suns). Download (source, Windows and Mac installers, various Unix zipped binaries) here.

KDE v4.5: first release candidate

KDE - KDE Software Compilation 4.5 RC1 Release Announcement

The first release candidate of version 4.5 of the KDE Software Compilation has been released (codename: Coppu). This closes 1165 bugs since beta 2. General new features of KDE 4.5 include:

  • New D-Bus based notification area to replace the old system tray
  • Window tiling
  • Option to use WebKit instead of KHTML in Konqueror
  • Focus on stability of KDE apps

Kubuntu Tutorials day, 7th July

The annual Kubuntu Tutorials Day is to be held on 7th July 2010. It's held on the #kubuntu-devel IRC channel on Freenode and there are the following sessions:

Qt v4.6.3 and Qt Creator v1.3.1 released

Nokia Releases Qt 4.6.3 — Qt - A cross-platform application and UI framework

Version 4.6.3 of Qt, Nokia's cross-platform application toolkit, has been released along with version 1.3.1 of Nokia's integrated development environment Qt Creator. Qt has a number of bug fixes including 19 crashes. Qt can now be installed on Sony Ericsson Symbian phones, such as Satio, as well as Nokia models.
