QTM v0.7 beta 1 released

From Qt Apps:

A first beta of version 0.7 of QTM, the Qt 4-based desktop blogging client, has been released. Changes:

  • New feature: Multiple accounts
  • New feature: Assistance to user in filling out location/server details, depending on which CMS or blog service is in use
  • Build system: Ability to disable the use of QPlainTextEdit if it is present (as in Qt 4.4), as that class has the same "scroll bug" as earlier versions of QTextEdit
  • Bug fix: Tenth entry in Recent Files menus now has hotkey 0, not 1 as before

QtiPlot v0.9.7.2 released

cb2Bib v1.0.1 released

Version 1.0.1 of cb2Bib, the application for extracting bibliographic references from online documents, has been released. Changes:

  • References with \LaTeX{} syntax can now be imported.
  • Sub and superscript conversions from HTML alt tags and [sub/p .] tags have been included.
  • Metadata insertion has been improved, and the option 'Update Documents Metadata' has been added in BibTeX editor.
  • Several bugs in context menus, reference list filter, and parsing some BibTeX nested braces has been fixed.

QTM v0.6.3 released

Version 0.6.3 of QTM, a blog entry editor and submitter, has been released. Changes:

  • New feature: recent files menu in both the system tray icon and each window
  • New feature: two new D-Bus signals, quickpostTemplatesUpdated and quickpostTemplateTitlesUpdated
  • Bug fix: use double newlines when pasting text as Blockquotes
  • Bug fix: strips out extra newlines when pasting text as lists

Version 0.10.1 of Speedcrunch, the scientific calculator based on Qt 4, has been released. Changes:

  • The equals sign on the keypad works again

QTM v0.6 released

From Qt Apps:

Version 0.6 of QTM, the blog management application, has been released. Changes since last stable version:

  • New feature: QTM now saves blog and category lists in an XML file from session to session, saving the delay of fetching them several times in a session
  • Installer: New Windows installer
  • New feature: Opening files by specifying them on the command-line when starting QTM
  • New feature: Ability to quickpost articles downloaded through HTTPS as well as HTTP (requires Qt 4.3, doesn't work on Windows, at least not out of the box)
  • Compatibility: Removed regex searching on Qt 4.1, because that version of Qt doesn't support searching a text document (QTextDocument) using regular expressions
  • User interface: New yellow system-tray icon displayed while quickpost is in progress (Windows only)
  • User interface: Now displays busy cursors when posting blog entries or refreshing blog or category lists
  • Improvement: When setting the title of a new quickpost article, sets the window title to it as well
  • Bug fix: Now displays categories in proper alphabetical order, with shorter entries (e.g. KDE) appearing before longer ones (e.g. KDE Apps)
  • Bug fix: Now checks for and, if necessary, creates the local storage directory before writing the templates file

QtiPlot v0.9.5 released

  • Implemented automatic column values recalculation in tables.
  • Improved the behavior of the Fit Wizard. Added a new built-in linear fit without the constant term.
  • Improvements to the multilayer plots and to the Python script interface. Now you can create a 3x2 grid of 2D plots with a single line of code: newGraph("Title", 6, 3, 2).
  • Fixed crash when importing ASCII to matrices.
  • Fixed copy/paste in tables.

cb2Bib v0.9.4 released

Version 0.9.4 of cb2Bib, a tool for extracting bibliographic references from emails, journal web pages and PDFs, has been released. Changes:

  • Extraction context menu adapted to include dynamic bookmarks
  • PubMed extractions has been set to keep IDs as URL BibTeX fields.
  • The cb2Bib reference browser has been updated accordingly, to ease posterior access to PubMed article entries.
  • File BibTeX field can now be configured to being relative to the current BibTeX file, to facilitate using removable devices for article storage.

QTM 0.6 - first beta released

A first beta of version 0.6 of QTM, a blogging application (written by the author of this blog), has been released. Changes:

QtiPlot v0.9.4 released

QTM v0.5.7 released

From Qt Apps:

Version 0.5.7 of QTM, the blog management application with a Quickpost feature similar to that of certain blogging systems, has been released. Changes:

  • New feature: "Copy title", allowing the user to automatically name an entry after the online resource it is based on when quickposting
  • Improvement: now sorts the categories alphabetically, rather than in the apparent non-order in which they have previously appeared
  • Improvement: unedited, fresh Quickposts are no longer "dirty", i.e. if user tries to close the window, if will not prompt him to save
  • Removed: accept and reset buttons in the Quickpost Template configuration dialog; a new template is now "accepted" if any details are entered, while reset had intractable bugs and can be achieved in any case by cancelling and reopening the dialog
  • User interface: added What's This help to the preference item "Save passwords with entries"

LyX v1.5.3 released

Version 1.5.3 of LyX, a WYSIWYG editor which produces LaTeX output, has been released. Changelog:

This is a maintenance release that further improves the stability and the performance. Besides numerous crashes, the display problems that slipped into 1.5.2 with the performance fixes (on the Mac and on Windows) as well as problems entailed to the reworked document classes were fixed. Furthermore, LyX 1.5.3 comes with speed improvements that should pay off especially on the Mac and other UNIXes. Finally, this version also provides some new features (detailed list here).

QtiPlot v0.9.1 released

From Qt Apps:

Version 0.9.1 of QtiPlot, an Origin-like scientific plotting and data analysis program, has been released. Major changes:

  • The behaviour of matrices is now completely Origin like: dual image/data view mode, support for flipping and rotating images, 2D histograms and the possibility to save matrices as bitmap or vector image files. Fast Fourier Transformations for matrices was also implemented. This is a restricted module (the code is not GPL) and is available only to users having subscribed for a QtiPlot binaries maintenance contract.
  • The fit wizard was higly improved: all the fit models and the initial guesses for the fit parameters can be saved to XML files, added the possibility to restrict the search range for the fit parameters and added a preview functionality for the fit models, allowing to determine efficiently the initial fit values.
  • Added support for 3D parametric surfaces.
  • Added a preview option to the import ASCII dialog and the possibility to import new data as read-only columns.
  • Improved the handling of tool bars and added a new tool bar for table column operations.
  • The import of Origin 7.5 project files was improved thanks to Alex Kargovsky.
  • Fixed export to vector formats on Mac OS X.

iTest v1.3.0 released

From Qt Apps:

Version 1.3.0 of iTest, a computerised examination suite, has been released. The system consists of a client and a server. Changes in both:

  • added Spanish translation
  • added SVG (scalable vector graphics) support, which means questions can now contain graphics
  • added multiple correct answers support
  • new database format - older versions of iTest cannot open the new itdb 1.3 files, iTest 1.3 can still open older databases
  • upgraded from Qt 4.3.1 to Qt 4.3.2

Changes in the server:

  • added the ability to print questions and tests (with or without graphics)
  • added search to the "overall statistics" dialogue
  • made the ui more flexible
  • many improvements in translations
  • numerous bug-fixes and more...

This release brings several improvements, both in the interface and in the internals of the program. Consistent shortcuts, improved editor/browser menu, and updated dialogs had been introduced. Additionally, customizable page number separators, improved ID's generation, and better recognition for the editor, abstract and ISBN fields had been included.

QTM v0.5.6 released

From Qt Apps:

Version 0.5.6 of QTM, the blog management application written by the author of this blog, has been released. Changes:

  • New feature: "associated hosts" in quickpost templates. The user can specify a number of hosts in a template, and when he then quickposts an article with that hostname in the URL, that template will be used.
  • Improvement: two new template tags: %host% (which is just the hostname of a page being blogged) and %domain% (which is %host% without the www.).
  • Bug fix: fixed crashes when shutting the quickpost template config window when there are no templates.
  • Build system: fixed relinking behaviour; no longer relinks when QDEBUG is not set (from CMake command line).

LyX v1.5.2 released

Version 1.5.2 of LyX, a TeX-based WYSIWYG word-processor, has been released. Changes include:

  • Revised user guide, also translated into Spanish
  • Improvements to user-interface translation on the Mac
  • Translations to Finnish, Portuguese and Simplified Chinese
  • Updated Czech, French, Galician, German, Hungarian, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese and Romanian translations
  • New "Save all" action
  • Now offers to "save all" when closing the application
  • Numerous other user-interface improvements and bug fixes, including fixes to crash bugs

Version 1.0.0 of Synkron, a program for synchronising folders across disks (for example, between a hard drive and a Flash drive), has been released. Changes since v0.9.2 include:

  • added the ability to update existing files only
  • update checker
  • numerous bug fixes

QtiPlot v0.9 released

From KDE Apps:

Version 0.9 of QtiPlot, a scientific plotting and data analysis application, has been released. Changes:

  • QtiPlot is now fully scriptable via Python. All objects and data analysis tools available in QtiPlot can be accessed and customized via scripts. The full description of the scripting interface is given in the updated user manual.
  • The import of Origin 7.5 project files was highly improved thanks to Alex Kargovsky.
  • The behaviour of the 2D plot grids is now completely Origin-like.
  • Added a new logistical fit tool and improved the sigmoidal fit tool.
  • Lots of user-requested features were implemented and a lot of bugs were fixed.

qOrganizer v3.0 released

From KDE Apps:

Version 3.0 of qOrganizer, a personal organiser program, has been released. Changes include:

  • New Spanish, Albanian, Macedonian and Estonian translations
  • New storing mode, allowing the user to choose to store to a file or a database
  • A new search function
  • A cleaned-up, tabbed settings dialog
  • Support for odd/even week timetables as used in some colleges
  • Drag/drop support for images in journals
  • Various bug fixes

iTest v1.2.0 released

From Qt Apps:

Version 1.2.0 of iTest, a computerised examination system with a client-server model, has been released.

Changes in iTestServer (formerly Database Editor) include:

  • renamed to iTestServer
  • added Portuguese translation
  • added the ability to set a pass mark for each flag separately
  • this required some changes in the saved sessions view and in printing
  • added the ability to group similar questions in order to be able to tell the client to choose one question of the group at most (useful when knowing the answer for one question would suffice to guess the answers for other questions)
  • server setup (advanced): double clicking adds/removes items
  • improved the "overall statistics" dialogue; question names now coloured according to their flag
  • improved the "change language" dialogue
  • improved the comments editor (undo/redo)
  • changed flag 1 colour to light green
  • row height now calculated correctly in the "overall statistics" dialogue
  • fixed the "adjust difficulty" button - now the icon in the list of questions changes when difficulty changed
  • cleaned up the menus, improved their behaviour
  • code clean-up
  • new database format - older versions of iTest cannot open the new itdb 1.2 files, iTest 1.2 can still open older databases
  • upgraded from Qt 4.3.0 to Qt 4.3.1

Changes to iTestClient (formerly Test Writer):

  • renamed to iTestClient
  • added Portuguese translation
  • added the ability to start a new test
  • more advanced test generation, support for groups added
  • upgraded from Qt 4.3.0 to Qt 4.3.1
