{"id":1332,"date":"2005-12-17T23:46:39","date_gmt":"2005-12-17T22:46:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.blogistan.co.uk\/ijwp\/mt.php\/2005\/12\/17\/press_complaints_ruling_for_dar_al-taqwa"},"modified":"2025-10-11T11:23:35","modified_gmt":"2025-10-11T10:23:35","slug":"press_complaints_ruling_for_dar_al-taqwa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.blogistan.co.uk\/blog\/mt.php\/2005\/12\/17\/press_complaints_ruling_for_dar_al-taqwa","title":{"rendered":"Press Complaints ruling for Dar al-Taqwa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Something I just got through the New Muslims&#39; Project mailing list &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><em>Al-Hamdu lillah<\/em>, the British <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pcc.org.uk\/index2.html\">Press Complaints Commission<\/a> has ruled in favour of the Islamic bookshop Dar al-Taqwa against the London Evening Standard newspaper, which printed a feature on the shop which quoted selectively from a pamphlet on jihad sold in the shop as well as giving the impression that the shop sold books and a DVD they in fact had never sold.  They also printed a picture of the shop front in which DT&#39;s phone and fax number were prominently displayed, which no doubt caused the shop staff a lot of distress.<\/p>\n<p>In the wake of the article, the paper agreed to print an article by Ahmad Thomson of the same length and position in the paper as the original; however, having received a draft, they refused to print it.
