In addition to being a Shafi’i scholar and expert in ‘aqida, he is Shaykh of one of the largest branches of the Shadhili tariqa in Syria with thousands of murids. His diwan is widely read throughout the Arab world and it’s poems are routinely recited at spiritual gatherings. Among the Shaykh’s specialties is the Futuhat Al-Makkiya of Shaykh al-Akbar Muhyadin Ibn ‘Arabi, his lessons in which were attended by scholars of Arabic who were amazed at his mastery of the language as well as travelers on the path. A noted scholar of Damascus has said of the Shaykh: He is a tabi’i born in this century. The Shaykh’s selfless service to the people and his gentle nature attest to his high state with Allah, Subhanahu wa Ta’ala. He continues to inspire students of knowledge in Damascus to this day.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
News has reached us that Shaikh Abdul-Rahman al-Shaghouri, a major shaikh of Damascus, has passed away.
