{"id":325,"date":"2007-05-05T22:26:06","date_gmt":"2007-05-05T21:26:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.blogistan.co.uk\/ijwp\/mt.php\/2007\/05\/05\/atatrks_wifes_hijab"},"modified":"2025-10-10T11:05:57","modified_gmt":"2025-10-10T10:05:57","slug":"atatrks_wifes_hijab","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.blogistan.co.uk\/blog\/mt.php\/2007\/05\/05\/atatrks_wifes_hijab","title":{"rendered":"Atat&uuml;rk&#8217;s wife&#8217;s hijab"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Various Muslim blogs have published pictures of the reprobate founder of the Turkish republic and his wife, wearing the standard hijab that his followers in modern Turkey want to ban &#8211; see <a href=\"http:\/\/tariqnelson.com\/2007\/05\/05\/articles-on-interest-5507\/\">Tariq Nelson<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/austrolabe.com\/2007\/05\/05\/turkish-presidents-and-the-veil\/\">Austrolabe<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/muslimmatters.org\/2007\/05\/01\/get-that-hijab-away-turkeys-secularists-traumatized\/\">Muslim Matters<\/a>, which has the most discussion at the moment.<\/p>\n<p>That the wife and mother of &quot;Utter Jerk&quot; wore a hijab won&#39;t really convince Turkish secularists, however; Turkish secularism has been a moving target, with the language changing so much that young people now need teaching to learn Atat&uuml;rk&#39;s own speeches, and even material written in the 1950s presents some difficulty.
