The Guardian reported (hat tip: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.muhajabah.com\/islamicblog\/archives\/veiled4allah\/010267.php\">al-Muhajabah<\/a>) that Shaikh Sudais, the state-appointed khateeb, gave a speech condemning militancy:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Because Muslims have strayed from moderation, we are now suffering from this dangerous phenomenon of branding people infidels and inciting Muslims to rise against their leaders to cause instability,&#8221; he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Doesn&#8217;t the shaikh realise that this militancy has its roots in the rebellion of the Najdis, under the leadership of earlier Saudis and the influence of Muhammad bin Abdul-Wahhab, against the last Khilafah at a time when it was itself under threat from European colonialists?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The papers are reporting that the topic of the sermon in the Haram this Eid was moderation.
