Abu Sinan must have special powers that we laymen lack that he is able to distinguish between native and non native speakers of English. I recall Edward Said whose first language was Arabic was very fluent in English and wrote it quite well also. I'm English but went to French since I was a wee lad and I can pass off as a francophone. In university I dated a Yemeni girl who came from the UAE. She had attended the American school in Abu Dhabi and her English was stronger than her Arabic. Correct me if I’m mistaken but I also recall that Osama bin Laden's first language was Yiddish, but his Arabic is apparently quite excellent.

This isnt about me, it is about linguistics. Sure, someones's second language can be really good, Said, whom I am a big fan of, is one example. But you prove my point for me, all of these people learned the second language at a VERY early age. The Religious Policeman makes no such claim. He says he was born and raised in Saudi, the Najd, and went to higher education in the west. People dont come to native speaking ability when they start learning a language at age 18 plus. Just doesnt happen.

I beg to differ, I have a Somali friend who went to Pakistan when he was 17. His Urdu, according to my wife who is from Karachi, is without the slightest trace of accent. I have also come across converts to Islam who have studied in the ME, whose Arabic, according to Arab friends, is spoken with native fluency.

Moreover, I don't believe any of us can tell this person is a fraud without hearing the person converse. Writing skills vary according to educational level and aptitude.

Come on now, where's your sense of humour? The Religious Policeman is funny, whoever he is. He isn't even, as far as I can see, taking the piss out of Islam, just the Saudi version of it. And he makes some good points.

People have made jokes about Christianity for centuries. At one time they used to get killed for it. Now people realise that jokes are part of life and humour is God given. Do Muslims know this? Many do, but many more seem not to.

He also makes a habit of deceptively editing people's comments, when he doesn't just delete them so he can have the last word. While this isn't, strictly speaking, proof that he's a fake, it's hardly the behavior of an honest soul. (The proof that he's a fake would be that he doesn't speak arabic worth a damn...)
