This blog belongs to a driver of small trucks and vans, blogger, aspiring web designer and software developer living under his generous parents’ roof in New Malden in South London. I’m a convert to Islam (since 1998) and my hobbies include IT (including programming, particularly using Qt, and blogging) and cycling. I take a keen interest in the news, and am quite political although not on straight party lines. Religiously, I’m a very strongly Sunni Muslim, and I’m very hostile to Wahhabism and (even more so) to newfangled political-Islam ideologies like that of Hizb-ut-Tahrir.
This blog is a place where I can voice my opinions on what I see around me, on the news and online, put out the occasional review, and occasionally record details about my programming adventures. My main project is a blogging application called Catkin, although I intend to change this because of a name clash with a blog server application. Catkin was originally a college project, but this foundered when I realised I’d bitten off much more than I could chew; there was no way I could master the techniques involved in the short time available, and there were financial and other problems also. This blog incorporates The Vane, an earlier blog aiming to rebut anti-Muslim propaganda, particularly the hate propaganda of Robert Spencer and others like him.
Please note that comments are currently open, but this may change in the event of a spam attack which overwhelms what I consider to be the excellent spam-protection facilities built into WordPress. I have the right to decide what is inappropriate; this includes insults to Islam, personal insults, spam and flame wars. Such material will be deleted without hesitation. Please note that posts containing certain words will not be posted immediately, as these words are commonly used in spam. The words concerned can be found at the WordPress site here. Most of the words which are screened are connected with pills, indecent material and gambling; one particular type (T***s H****m) will trigger automatic deletion. Swear words will also trigger moderation.
The desktop which I have displayed at the top of the blog in the past, and may do again in the future, is mine. Internet Explorer has problems displaying this blog. Every other browser displays it fine. Contact: indigojo_uk@yahoo.co.uk
