Maxine Carr wasting money? No, the mob is

A letter in today’s Daily Telegraph, from Bob Hughes of Abingdon, Oxfordshire:

Sir – Maxine Carr is being blamed for wasting taxpayers’ money over the preservation of her anonymity and safety (News, Feb 25). I blame the expense on those who want to track her down and harm her, along with those who consider that it would “serve her right” to be at the mercy of such imbeciles.

By the same token, it would disturb me less to live next to a paedophile than it would to live near the kind of people who take their kids along to scream at and pelt prisoner transport, or who gang up to lynch paediatricians. When it comes to generating fear, no villain can hold a candle to the viciously sentimental British chav.
