WordPress bug, and SUSE release
Yesterday I discovered that WordPress’s latest release isn’t displaying my categories properly. It should be displaying them in alphabetical order, and there is a published way of changing the order of displaying the categories, but it insists on displaying them in numerical order, rather than alphabetical. Which is why you see them displayed in the non-order they appear to the right of this post. The consensus on the support forums is that it’s a bug, and I suppose the WordPress developers are working on it, but a ping on their development blog to remind them won’t hurt.
Also, there is a link on Novell’s SUSE website (Novell took over the German company SUSE, a Linux specialist, last year) to an article at ZDNet, on a minor feature which is to appear in the upcoming SUSE Linux 9.3 release. Nothing unusual about that, except that the release date is given as Wednesday – that’s tomorrow as I write this – and Novell haven’t let out a squeak about an upcoming release. I’ve not seen a word either on the company’s own site or on the unofficial Planet SUSE, which is certainly a departure from previous practice. Is this a mistake, or has Novell adopted a policy of secrecy even more stringent than Apple’s?
