America falls out of love with Sinn Fein

There’s a piece here at the BBC’s website about how the US’s (and especially Irish Americans’) love affair with Gerry Adams and Sinn Fein (the Irish political party associated with the IRA) is supposedly going sour. I’ve even heard that they’ve been banned from fund-raising in the US now. Could it be that people over there are finally getting a purchase on reality?

I can remember interviews with Gerry Adams after various IRA bombings in the 1990s when the “peace process” was making its first baby steps. You could never get a straight answer out of him. Various interviewers asked him to disassociate himself, and Sinn Fein, from these actions, and he never did. He always deflected the question, by talking about the actions of the UK government or the Army or whoever.

I notice that all this is happening just as the various “paramilitaries” are turning from terrorists into gangsters. The most recent murder arose out of a fight in a pub. The IRA (the group most notorious for getting money from Irish-Americans) have been linked to the robbery a few months back, in which millions of pounds of fresh banknotes were seized from the Northern Bank in Belfast.

But the IRA have always been criminals. Since their “ceasefire”, they (and pro-union terrorist groups) have carried out “punishment beatings” against members of their own community in the North. They have been known to order people to leave Northern Ireland. If you have a problem and live in certain districts there, you don’t go to the police. You let the IRA or whatever “paramilitary” group sort it out. This is, in fact, the first time local Catholics have stood up to the IRA for quite some time.

The Irish terrorists – both pro-British and pro-Irish – have always been swine. The IRA, for example, “disappeared” a woman for helping a British soldier in the street. The woman had several children, who they orphaned, and several of them ended up in “care” because their family did not have room for all of them. Several of them were abused. They did not come clean about what happened to her until the last couple of years.

Pro-union gunmen, in 1993, walked into a bar at Hallowe’en, shouted “Trick or treat!” and opened fire. A woman said to one of the gunmen, “that’s not funny”, and he turned and put a bullet through her head. The people responsible for that atrocity, as for so many others, were let out of jail under the terms of the “Good Friday” agreement. (Note: it’s called Good Friday because they believe that is the day on which Christ, peace be upon him, died for their sins.)

Get this into your heads: the IRA are filth. They are not freedom fighters any more than al-Qa’ida are. They are murderers and gangsters.
