Winterval? Bah, humbug!
Today’s Guardian features an investigation into the alleged “War on Christmas”, in which various council, health service, charity and education functionaries supposedly erase reference to Christmas, prevent people from putting up Christmas light displays and invent stupid names like “Luminos” and “Winterval” for the sake of political correctness and to avoid offending them Mozzlums. Trouble is, it’s all a load of nonsense.
(Another incident of “PC gone mad” is on the BBC News site now, in which a hospital in Devon has turned down a visit from the Christmas carol singers. Of course, it’s not to avoid offending anyone - it’s to keep out infections, which are particularly prevalent at this time of year.)
