Reasons to hate Yahoo

No, not just that they rat on their users to the Chinese government. Their site is one of the most frustratingly badly organised out there.

I use Yahoo mail and groups. I use secure login, so that my password can’t be intercepted on the way.

Say I want to use the mail system when I’m in the Apple store, as I often do. Say someone else has used it before me, and stupidly forgotten to log themselves out when they go, so that any old Tom, Dick or Harry can’t send mail in their name (more likely a prank, but could be malicious).

I’ve then got to log them out, then go through another screen before I get to one where I can actually log in, then click on the link that leads to the secure login page. All of these pages can take ages to load, if they load at all (in which case, you’ve got to reload).

Worse than that, though, if you attempt to access mail.yahoo.co.uk, as I always do, and the last guy who didn’t log out was accessing the Spanish version, or worse, the Japanese version, you get a page in whatever language they were using! And when you log them out (if you can work out the word for “log out” in whatever foreign language it is), you get another page in that language! If you then follow the link to sign in again, you still don’t get an English log-in page, when you specified English by trying yahoo.co.uk to begin with.

That’s stupid! Any other examples out there of Yahoo dumbness?
